Sieve of Eratosthenes

I totally dig words….vocabulary, prose, word smithing in general. I’m crazy about it.

Math? Not so much. I don’t have a math brain.

Despite this, I’m drawn to prime numbers. Maybe it has something to do with their singular nature. To that end, when I stumbled across the Sieve of Eratosthenes. I was compelled to give it a go.

It’s a process used to sift through numbers pulling out the primes. It’s so easy to do. Why didn’t the teach it in school?

Excluding 1, start with the first prime number, 2 and cross off every number divisible by 2. The next prime is 3. Cross off each number divisible by 3. The next is 5. Same deal. Keep going until you’ve completed what group set you’re working with.

Fascinating stuff! ✏️
